Design and Fabrication of a Shunt Active Power Filter for a 3 Phase 4 Wire System Using The P-Q Theory
Abstract
This paper presents the basic operating principle of a Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) for a 3 phase 4 wire system. Shunt active power filters are widely employed for the compensation of harmonic currents, reactive power and elimination of unbalanced currents. A MATLAB model has also been presented in this paper along with the results to verify the compensating action of SAPF.
